We’re not so much into Easter as we’re into the holiday’s accoutrements. Mo brought home a Fun! Safe! Easy! egg coloring kit to celebrate. I don’t really remember coloring Easter eggs as a kid. My cousins and I preferred the competitive search for loot-filled plastic ones. One year the adults decided to extend their hippie whole grains lifestyle to this exercise, and instead of chocolate and more chocolate, the eggs were filled with sesame sticks and raisins. I had to wait until Halloween to cash in on mass amounts of free candy. Perhaps this deprivation contributed to my “if it’s in front of me I will eat it” attitude toward things made of sugar. You never know when a bout of hippie whole grains mania will strike again.
