Another Sunday afternoon

Where to dance in New York City? A venue where the scene is anti-scene. A crowd that doesn’t dress to attract, doesn’t care about who’s in the room and is just concerned that the music is good and that everyone is giddy to be shaking it.
I knew the perfect place once. Back in Ann Arbor, the kids put on an excellent party called The Bang. It happens maybe every two months, and usually has a theme. I went to The Space BangĀ – and saw an alien or two.
I miss dancing. Tried to Tango and didn’t feel it. I need to be free, outside of technical or partner restraint.
Alone, in the dewy light from this rainy day, I dance around my apartment. And sing along! To the music on this mix that captures my recent listens that I wanted to post on muxtape. Thanks to the tip from Mike. But most of the music I have is not MP3 (the acceptable format) and I don’t know how to make it so. Here’s the playlist (and if I like you maybe I’ll make you a copy).
- Ambulance Ltd: Anecdote
- Beirut: Nantes
- Jenny Lewis and The Watson Twins: Run Devil Run
- Jenny Lewis and The Watson Twins: The Big Guns
- The Unicorns: Sea Ghost
- Mason Jennings: Butterfly
- Animal Collective: Winter’s Love
- T.O.B.A.S.O.L.: Foreman of the Mill
- Vampire Weekend: Oxford Comma
- She and Him: Change is Hard
- The Hard Lessons: It Bleeds
- Blondie: The Tide is High
The photo was captured just north of the West Village. On my way to see the Found Footage Festival last night.

Hi Raq!
You should be able to get a free mp3 converter on the nets. For Windows, you can create mp3s with Media Player. I also saw FreeRip.com.
If you’re using iTunes, right click on a track and select “Convert Selection”. There should be an mp3 option.
BTW, I’m posting another muxtape this week. I think it’ll be METAL this time (rawk!). But for now, you can still listen to some old electronica to celebrate Portishead’s new release.

The latest version of itunes seems to have killed the ability to convert to MP3 (the only thing it seems I can convert to is ACC). Snark…perhaps I’ll get around to getting a converter. What do you think of the new Portishead?
I like the new portishead very much. It seems like a natural progression to me. I’m still soaking it all in.
