This year our eve was spent lazily on a veranda in Sayulita, Mexico. Two pale folks, cuddled under blankets, lulled by candle light and distant fireworks. The town is a 50-50 split of local residents and tourists which means a French restaurant, brownies from Robert’s Bakery and surf boards, but also daily fresh tortillas, still wild beaches and the haphazard acceptance of Roman Candle wielding 8 year olds.

Drew Barrymore made an appearance, in tie dye.

Some more photos (none of Drew) here.

I didn’t give much time to resolution making. Over a snack today I thought about resolving to listen to new music. This should be easy with Mo’s 52 albums a year resolution, which will be going on year three…but the point really is to find my own music. Two places to start…yes Pandora, and also Ear Farm, this post in particular. And this one too.

We just returned from Sayulita ourselves…having also dodged the roman candles in the plaza on New Years Eve and having also seen Drew at the fruit stand and walking the beach in tie dye. Loved your pictures…thanks for brightening up my first day back at work…I’m dying right now for a burrito de camarones at burrito revolucion. :)

And street churros! The street food was definitely the best. I saw Drew at one of the restaurants in town, Cafe Sayulita? Her posse arrived, stayed for 15 minutes and then left…
